The project brings together 12 partner organizations who collect EU and non-EU migrant workers' testimonies about serious labour rights violations in the EU. In this project, we use the testimonies as the basis for discussing the role of EU and national labour related institutions (labour inspection, labour offices, etc.) and laws (ex. public procurement directives, seasonal workers directive). The project adopts the normative position that decent wage and working conditions are necessary for enabling EU citizens’ full democratic participation, granting labour citizenship.

Im Rahmen von „Testing EU Citizenship as Labour Citizenship: From Cases of Labour Rights Violations to a Strengthened Labour Rights Regime“ sammeln zwölf Organisationen in elf EU-Staaten Erfahrungsberichte und Zeugenaussagen zu Arbeitsrechtsverletzungen innerhalb der EU. Obwohl ihnen als EU-Bürgern eine Gleichbehandlung zusteht, sehen sich Migranten oft mit Verletzungen ihrer Rechte und Diskriminierung konfrontiert. Die gesammelten Aussagen sollen eine Grundlage schaffen für eine konstruktive Diskussion über die Rolle der EU in der Behebung solcher Probleme. Ausgangspunkt ist dabei die Annahme, dass nur mit angemessenen Löhnen und Arbeitsbedingungen eine Basis für demokratische Partizipation innerhalb der EU geschaffen werden kann. W ramach projektu „Testing EU Citizenship as Labour Citizenship: From Cases of Labour Rights Violations to a Strengthened Labour Rights Regime“ 12 organizacji z 11 krajów zbierane są doświadczenia i zeznania pracowników o łamaniu ich praw pracowniczych w Unii Europejskiej. Mimo tego, że jako obywatele UE zasługują na równe traktowanie, wielu migrantów jest ofiarą lamania praw pracowniczych i dyskryminacji. Ich zeznania stworzą podstawę dla konstrukcyjnej dyskusji o roli UE w rozwiązaniu tych problemów. Wychodzimy przy tym z założenia, że tylko przez godziwe wynagrodzenia i odpowiednie warunki pracy można stworzyć bazę dla demokratycznego uczestnictwa w ramach UE.
